Neighborhood Update

Dear Laureate Park Residents,

We would like to take this opportunity to update the community on a couple of outstanding projects happening in Laureate Park.

  • Crescent Park Fountain – The fountain has an immense leak through the waste line valve and a broken suction side ball valve inside the equipment container. Also, the fountain’s return line that feeds the top tier level of the fountain is broken. After months of research and vendors turning the work down or not responding to the HOA, we were able to get PondPro to clean out and repair the fountain on May 3rd. We will be using a solution called “Stop Leak.” This solution is an excellent product to repair water leaks in pools, spas, and fountains. We have prepared a backup plan if this process is unsuccessful.

  • Stoddart Boardwalk Area (Mew 41) – The sidewalk right next to the boardwalk is roped off due to the area having a significant wash out. We ask that the roped off area not be removed, moved, or touched since this is a serious and dangerous issue. This area will be repaired on Wednesday, April 27th. Please be mindful of children playing in or around the roped off area.

  • Landscaping – Berman is making internal changes to bring the landscaping in Laureate Park up to the community standards that we all expect. Berman has increased their service hours and manpower in order fulfill these requests. The top priority items that the team is focusing on are removal of weeds, treating and replacing sod, trimming of plant material, and irrigation issues. A few work order items are on hold due to material shortages. The HOA team is meeting with Berman weekly to ensure all items are being handled in a timely manner and making sure the landscaping improves to meet the residents’ expectations.

  • Tennis Court Net – The #2 Tennis Court center strap was repaired.

  • Lake Nona App - By the end of this month you should be receiving push notifications, and emails, from the Lake Nona App to update the app. It is very important to update your app, when those notifications are received, as the new “Mobile I.D.” and amenity “Check In” will be part of this update. The mobile I.D. will be used so that physical I.D.’s will no longer be needed. As part of the mobile I.D. process, you will need to upload a clear photo of yourself to your app account. More information will be provided in the update notifications later this month.

  • Midges (Blind Mosquitos) – The peak breeding time for midges is Spring to Fall. Typically, between April and November, depending on weather conditions. We treat the ponds for midges between March and October. Midges are more active at night and are attracted to lights. A way that residents can reduce the number of midges around their home is to turn off outside lights or install motion lights where possible. The HOA added an additional fogging treatment last night to help with the midge control. We are increasing our fogging treatment for the last 2 months of the season to weekly treatments, which would mean we would treat every week in September and October. Homeowners do have an option to hire a pest control company if an individual wants a higher level of midge control on their property.
