Tavistock Restaurant Collection is pleased to announce the creation of Canvas, a restaurant and market located at the Laureate Park Village Center in the heart of Lake Nona. Featuring chef-driven cuisine with a focus on fresh Florida seafood, the waterfront restaurant will open in January 2016.
An original concept and the first Tavistock Restaurant Collection location in Central Florida, Canvas was developed in partnership with Tavistock Development Company and Concentrics Restaurants. Concentrics Restaurants is an Atlanta-based restaurant operating group that offers full-service design, development, consulting and management and provides comprehensive food and beverage solutions for freestanding restaurants and hotels across the nation including locally known Luma on Park, Prato and Slate. Canvas marks the 15th unique concept within Tavistock Restaurant Collection’s domestic portfolio. The 278-seat restaurant is one of Orlando’s only waterfront dining destinations. In addition to the restaurant, the new venue will also include an adjacent market where guests can enjoy freshly prepared breakfast and lunch items from the Canvas kitchen and peruse a hand-selected collection of housewares, books and local goods. The restaurant’s exhibition-style kitchen opens to the main dining room while floor-to-ceiling windows provide picturesque waterfront views. “We are excited to open an entirely new concept in Orlando,” said Tavistock Restaurant Collection CEO John Bettin. “Canvas will embody the hallmarks of our restaurant portfolio – terrific food delivered with excellent service in an inviting atmosphere. Together with Tavistock Development Company and Concentrics Restaurants, we are creating a one-of-a-kind environment in the region’s fastest growing community that we hope will quickly become a top dining destination in Orlando.” The chef-driven menu will feature American classics inspired by local ingredients and Florida seafood featuring shareable appetizers, creative salads and sandwiches, hearty entrees, and wood-grilled pizzas and flatbreads. “We have always liked Orlando as a community thanks to the welcoming diners and success we have had with the restaurants we have developed,” said Owner and Founder of Concentrics Restaurants Bob Amick. “Tavistock Restaurant Collection and Tavistock Development Company are great partners and we look forward to bringing a great building and space to the Orlando culinary dining scene.” Every detail of Canvas has been thoughtfully designed and planned to create a welcoming space for guests. The restaurant’s exhibition-style kitchen opens to the main dining room while floor-to-ceiling windows provide picturesque waterfront views. Diners can opt to sit inside in cozy banquettes, enjoy a meal out on the terrace overlooking the water, or toast with handcrafted cocktails at the prominent wooden bar. The Canvas market will open daily for breakfast and lunch. Guests can stop in and have a meal at the market’s communal table or chose from a variety of grab-and-go options, gourmet coffee, and fresh-squeezed juice and smoothies. The market will have comfortable seating and nooks where patrons can enjoy food and complimentary WiFi. The market will also feature a selection carefully curated housewares, books, jewelry, local goods and furnishings in addition to housing the new Lake Nona Information Center. “Canvas is an innovative concept for Orlando – a place where people can come and hang out, shop, eat and just have fun,” said James L. Zboril, president of Lake Nona and Tavistock Development Company. “We wanted to cater to our residents and employees but also establish a new dining destination in Lake Nona with Canvas. Canvas is located at the Laureate Park Village Center in Lake Nona, just east of Lake Nona Medical City. Laureate Park Village Center also includes an Aquatic Center, a 3,200-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center, LP Fit, and the Lakehouse, a 2,100-square-foot community event space, which can be catered by Canvas. The Canvas employment open house is Nov. 30 – Dec. 5 at the new Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott in the Lake Nona Town Center.
